Psychology

Swing vs. Day Trading Adjustments

For context, I'd like you to watch the brief video below on a young lady working through her trading journey.

Key takeaways for others feeling this way.

The good:

  • She is self aware of her emotions

The bad:

  • She is confused about the point of swing trading.

Explanation:

  • Swing trading is not about buying and holding for the max profit you can make. It’s about being able to make money while not having to be glued to the screens every day.

  • This is why a lot of swing traders will use equity and options. you sell the options when they are up 30, 50, 100, 300 percent and you can always hold the equity.

This will be in all caps because I am yelling through text so you can really understand!

  • My point is.. STOP TREATING SWING TRADING AS A BUY AND HOLD STRATEGY.

  • IF YOU BUY MULTIPLE CONTRACTS YOU TRIM PROFITS AS YOU GO. IF YOU ARE UP $2,000 TRIM OR SELL, TAKE A QUARTER OF THE PROFIT AND BUY FURTHER OUT THE MONEY CALLS FOR RUNNERS.

  • SWING TRADING IS STILL TRADING!
